Abswurmbachite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Cu²⁺Mn³⁺₆O₈(SiO₄).

It crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system (space group I4_1/acd). It is a member of the Braunite structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 4.96; Brownish black streak; Metallic. Anisotropism: Weak luster.

IMA symbol Abs, IMA status: approved, named in 1990.

Found in very low-grade, high-pressure metamorphic Mn, Al-rich quartzites.

It is found associated with Quartz, shattuckite, tenorite, sursassite, piemontite, ardennite, rutile, hollandite, clinochlore.

The mineral was named to honor Dr. Irmgard Abs-Wurmbach (1938{), German mineralogist.
