Ammonioleucite
Ammonioleucite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula (NH₄)(AlSi₂O₆).
It crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system (space group I4_1/a). It is a member of the Analcime structural group.
Key properties: specific gravity 2.29; Resinous to vitreous luster; optically uniaxial.
IMA symbol Alct, IMA status: approved, named in 1984.
Found in veinlets, fractures, and cavities in hydrothermally altered crystalline schist, as powdery pseudomorphous replacements of analcime crystals.
It is found associated with Analcime, dolomite.
The name refers to ammonia in its chemical composition and its relation to leucite.
