Argentotetrahedrite-(Zn)

Argentotetrahedrite-(Zn) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfosalt class, with the chemical formula Ag₆(Cu₄Zn₂)Sb₄S₁₃.

It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system (space group I-43m). It is a member of the Tetrahedrite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3.5–4; specific gravity 5.089; Black streak; Metallic luster.

IMA symbol Attr-Zn, IMA status: approved, named in 2021.

Found in a low-sulfidation, epithermal Au-Ag-Sb vein deposit (Kremnica). In hydrothermally altered metamorphosed dolostone (upper greenschist to lower amphibolite) (Lengenbach).

It is found associated with Argentotennantite-(Fe), chalcopyrite, quartz (Kremnica); tetrahedrite-(Zn), dolomite (Lengenbach); kenoargentotetrahedrite-(Fe) (Zvěstov).

Suffix indicates a member of the tetrahedrite series (B = Cu, D = Sb, Y = S) with dominant zinc as the C constituent in the general structural formula M(2)A6M(1)(B4C2)X(3)D4S(1)Y12S(2)Z. The prefix.
