Beusite-(Ca)

Beusite-(Ca) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula CaMn²⁺₂(PO₄)₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1/c). It is a member of the Graftonite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5; specific gravity 3.61; Very pale brown streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Beu-Ca, IMA status: approved, named in 2017.

A common primary phosphate in a beusite-triphylite nodule (6×5×3 cm) in beryl- columbite-phosphate subtype of zoned rare-element pegmatites, in a small dike, which cuts an interlayered sequence of amphibolite and granodiorite.
