Clinobehoite

Clinobehoite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Be(OH)₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1).

Key properties: Mohs hardness 2–3; specific gravity 1.93; Vitreous, pearly luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Cbht, IMA status: approved, named in 1988.

Found in hydrothermally altered zones in desilicated pegmatites.

It is found associated with Bavenite, bityite, phillipsite, analcime, albite.

The name refers to its monoclinic symmetry and relation to behoite.
