Dickinsonite-(KMnNa)

Dickinsonite-(KMnNa) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula K(NaMn)CaNa₃AlMn₁₃(PO₄)₁₂(OH)₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group Cc). It is a member of the Arrojadite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3.5–4; specific gravity 3.496; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Dcn-KMnNa, IMA status: approved, named in 1878.

Found in nodular masses in albitic granite pegmatite.

It is found associated with Quartz, eosphorite, triploidite, lithiophilite.

Dickinsonite indicates a member of the group with Mn2+ dominant at the M site; two suffixes indicate the dominant cation of the dominant valence state at the A and B sites.
