Ferri-fluoro-katophorite

Ferri-fluoro-katophorite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Na(NaCa)(Mg₄Fe³⁺)(Si₇Al)O₂₂F₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Amphibole-amphiboles sodic-calcic structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 3.19; Gray streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Fflktp, IMA status: approved, named in 2015.

Found in carbonatite dikes.

It is found associated with Phlogopite, microcline perthite, titanite, augite, zircon, fluorapatite.

Signifies an amphibole of the katophorite group with Fe3+ in the C site and fluorine greater than OH and/or Cl in the W site.
