Fluorotetraferriphlogopite

Fluorotetraferriphlogopite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula KMg₃Fe³⁺Si₃O₁₀F₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Mica structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3–4; specific gravity 2.966; Pale brown streak; Pearly luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Ftfphl, IMA status: approved, named in 2010.

Found in metamorphosed carbonate rocks in association with a large REE-Fe-Nb deposit.

It is found associated with Fluorbritholite-(Ce), norbergite, richterite, serpentine.

The prefix, fluoro, identifies the F-analog of tetraferriphlogopite.
