Hendricksite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula KZn₃(Si₃Al)O₁₀(OH)₂.
It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Mica structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 2.5–3; specific gravity 2.86–3.43; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Hds, IMA status: approved, named in 1965.
Restricted to irregular lens- or sheetlike skarn bodies in a metamorphosed stratiform zinc deposit.
It is found associated with Andradite, rhodonite, calcite, barium feldspars, franklinite, willemite, axinite, hancockite.
The name refers to Dr. Sterling B. Hendricks (1902{), American crystallographer and chemist, a student of micas.
