Honeaite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfide class, with the chemical formula Au₃TlTe₂.

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pbcm).

Key properties: Mohs hardness 11.18; specific gravity 11.18; Metallic luster.

IMA symbol Hne, IMA status: approved, named in 2015.

Found in microvugs and microfractures roughly following the metamorphic banding, mainly within areas of epidote and prehnite alteration (greenschist facies) of quartz amphibolite.

It is found associated with Gold (low Ag), tellurobismuthite, molybdenite, petzite, hessite, calaverite, melonite, mattagamite, frohbergite, altaite, pyrrhotite, ferrohornblende.

The mineral was named to honor Professor Russell M. Honea (1929-2002), University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, USA.
