Intro adapted from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA).

Ilirneyite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Mg₀.₅[ZnMn³⁺(TeO₃)₃]·4.5H₂O.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P6_3/m). It is a member of the Zemannite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3; specific gravity 4.205; Brown streak; Adamantine to semi-metallic (crystals); silky (aggregates) luster.

IMA symbol Iny, IMA status: approved, named in 2015.

Found in the oxidation zone of sulfide-telluride-bearing quartz veins in cracks and cavities.

It is found associated with Gypsum, malachite, azurite, cerussite, anglesite, brochantite, linarite, posnjakite, chlorargyrite, acanthite, gold, goethite, coronadite, paratellurite.

The name is derived from the locality that produced the first specimen, the Ilirney ore district, near the village of Ilirney, the Ilirney Lakes and Ilirneyveem River, Russia.
