Ivanyukite-Na

Ivanyukite-Na is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Na₂[Ti₄O₂(OH)₂(SiO₄)₃]·6H₂O.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P-43m). It is a member of the Pharmacosiderite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 4; specific gravity 2.6; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically uniaxial.

IMA symbol Iv-Na, IMA status: approved, named in 2007.

A late-stage, hydrothermal phase in natrolitized microcline-aegirine-sodalite lens in orthoclase-bearing urtite.

It is found associated with Microcline, vinogradovite, sazykinaite-(Y), natrolite, djerfisherite.

The mineral was named to honor Gregory Yur’evich Ivanyuk, Russian mineralogist and petrologist, head of the Laboratory of Self-Organized Mineral Systems, Geological Institute, Kola Science Center.
