Jacquesdietrichite
Jacquesdietrichite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Cu₂BO(OH)₅.
It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pnma).
Key properties: Mohs hardness 2; specific gravity 3.28; Pale blue streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Jdt, IMA status: approved, named in 2003.
Probably formed as a secondary, low-temperature product of hydrothermal reworking of boron-bearing manganese-oxide ore (gaudefroyite).
It is found associated with Henritermierite, gaudefroyite, calcite.
The mineral was named to honor French geologist Jacques Emile Dietrich (b. 1926), who collected the first specimens.
