Kaliochalcite
Kaliochalcite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfate class, with the chemical formula KCu₂(SO₄)₂[(OH)(H₂O)].
It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Natrochalcite structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 4; specific gravity 3.49; Pale green to white streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Kch, IMA status: approved, named in 2013.
Through the reaction of high-temperature, sublimate K-Cu-sulfates and atmospheric water vapor at temperatures <100-150 flC, in volcanic fumaroles.
It is found associated with Hematite, tenorite, langbeinite, aphthitalite, steklite, lammerite, chlorothionite, gypsum.
As the potassium (kalium, in Latin) analog of natrochalcite.
