Kuzmenkoite-Mn

Kuzmenkoite-Mn is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula K₂MnTi₄(Si₄O₁₂)₂(OH)₄·5-6H₂O.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group Cm). It is a member of the Labuntsovite structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 2.67; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Kz-Mn, IMA status: approved, named in 1998.

A late hydrothermal phase in minute cavities in albitized murmanite-bearing lujavrites.

It is found associated with Natrolite, labuntsovite, calciohilairite, vinogradovite, carbonate-fluorapatite.

The name refers to Russian geochemist and mineralogist M.V. Kuzmenko (1918-1995), the suffix, Mn, for the dominant cation in the D site.
