Lehnerite

Lehnerite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula Mn²⁺(UO₂)₂(PO₄)₂·8H₂O.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1/n).

Key properties: Mohs hardness 2–3; specific gravity 3.5; Pale yellow streak; Vitreous to resinous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Lh, IMA status: approved, named in 1986.

A rare secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of a complex granite pegmatite.

It is found associated with Zwieselite, rockbridgeite.

The mineral was named to honor Ferdinand Lehner (1868–1943), Pleystein, Germany, an early collector of Hagendorf minerals.
