Lisetite

Lisetite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Na₂CaAl₄(SiO₄)₄.

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pbc2_1).

Key properties: specific gravity 2.73.

IMA symbol Lis, IMA status: approved, named in 1985.

Formed by retrograde metamorphism of a Na, Al-rich and K, Mg-poor eclogite pod in the highest pressure part of the greenschist, amphibolite, or granulite facies.

It is found associated with Taramite, jadeite, hematite, ilmenite, hÄo gbomite, albite, quartz.

The name refers to the Liset eclogite pod, Norway.
