Maneckiite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula (Na )Ca₂Fe²⁺₂(Fe³⁺Mg)Mn₂(PO₄)₆·2H₂O.
It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pcab). It is a member of the Wicksite structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 5; specific gravity 3.531; Colorless streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Mnc, IMA status: approved, named in 2015.
Found in the outer zone of phosphate nodules.
It is found associated with Fluorapatite, wolfeite, Ca-rich graftonite, alluaudite-group minerals.
The mineral was named to honor Andrzej Manecki (b. 1933), eminent Polish mineralogist and emeritus Professor, Department of Mineralogy, Petrography, and Geochemistry, Faculty of Geology.
