Manganflurlite

Manganflurlite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula ZnMn²⁺₃Fe³⁺(PO₄)₃(OH)₂(H₂O)₇·2H₂O.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1/m). It is a member of the Flurlite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 2.5; specific gravity 2.73; Buff streak; Vitreous iridescent luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Mflu, IMA status: approved, named in 2017.

A late-stage, relatively low-temperature, secondary hydrothermal mineral in a zoned granitic pegmatite.

It is found associated with Phosphophyllite, hydroxylapatite, jahnsite-(CaMnFe), apatite, mitridatite Zn-bearing rockbridgeite.

The prefix, mangan, indicates the Mn-analog of flurlite.
