Marumoite

Marumoite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfosalt class, with the chemical formula Pb₃₂As₄₀S₉₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1).

Key properties: Metallic luster.

IMA symbol Mrm, IMA status: approved, named in 1998.

Found in a high-sulfidation, epithermal, Cu-Pb-Zn disseminated, massive sulfide deposit (Japan).

The mineral was named to honor Fumiyuki Marumo (b. 1931), professor of mineralogy and crystallography at Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan, a specialist on the structures of sulfosalt minerals.
