Mcalpineite

Mcalpineite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Cu₃Te⁶⁺O₆.

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pcca).

Key properties: specific gravity 6.65; Paler green streak; Adamantine luster.

IMA symbol Map, IMA status: approved, named in 1992.

A very rare secondary mineral, produced through alteration of tellurides and tellurium-bearing sulfides.

It is found associated with Quartz, chromian muscovite, choloalite, keystoneite, mimetite, malachite, azurite, annabergite, pyrite, acanthite, hessite, “electrum”, altaite, silver.
