Natrotitanite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula (Na₀.₅Y₀.₅)TiO(SiO₄).
It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/c). It is a member of the Titanite structural group.
Key properties: specific gravity 3.833; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Nttn, IMA status: approved, named in 2011.
Found in the wall rock zone of an alkaline granite in association with a granitic massif.
It is found associated with Yttrium-bearing fluorite, microcline, albite, quartz, riebeckite, aegirine, biotite, astrophyllite, rutile, zircon, elpidite.
The name refers to a titanite structure with Na(Y, REE)-dominant in the Ca site.
