Oxyvanite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the vanadate class, with the chemical formula V³⁺₂V⁴⁺O₅.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/c). It is a member of the Berdesinskiite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 7–7.5; specific gravity 4.66; Black streak; Resinous. R: (440) 17.8, (460) 18, (480) 18.2, (520) 18.6, (520) 18.6, (540) 18.8, (560) 18.9, (580) 19, (600) 19.1 luster.

IMA symbol Oxy, IMA status: approved, named in 2008.

An accessory mineral in Cr-V-bearing quartz-diopside metamorphic rocks (Russia); in amphibolite to granulite facies quartzo-feldspathic gneisses (Madagascar).

It is found associated with Quartz, Cr-V-bearing tremolite and micas, calcite, clinopyroxenes of the diopside- kosmochlor-natalyite series, Cr-bearing goldmanite, eskolaite-karelianite.

The name commemorates constituents of its essential composition, oxygen and vanadium.
