Perrierite-(Ce)

Perrierite-(Ce) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Ce₄MgFe³⁺₂Ti₂O₈(Si₂O₇)₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Chevkinite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5.5; specific gravity 4.29–4.45; Brown streak; Resinous, lustrous to dull luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Prr-Ce, IMA status: approved, named in 1950.

Found in sands derived from weathered tuffs (Nettuno, Italy); in pockets in \hypersthene" granodiorite (Burley Farm, Virginia, USA); in syenite pegmatites (Oslo, Norway).

It is found associated with Microcline, aegirine, loparite, pyrophanite (Oslo, Norway).

The name refers to Carlo Perrier (1886–1948), Italian mineralogist.
