Phosphogartrellite

Phosphogartrellite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula PbCuFe³⁺(PO₄)₂(OH,H₂O)₂.

It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system (space group P-1). It is a member of the Helmutwinklerite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 4.5; specific gravity 5.05; Yellow streak; Vitreous to adamantine luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Pgtl, IMA status: approved, named in 1996.

A rare secondary mineral, probably produced through oxidation of earlier sulfides in silicified barite veins.

It is found associated with Hentschelite, pyromorphite, malachite, cuprite.

As the phosphate analog of gartrellite.
