Plumboagardite

Plumboagardite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the arsenate class, with the chemical formula (Pb,REE,Ca)Cu₆(AsO₄)₃(OH)₆·3H₂O.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P6_3/m). It is a member of the Mixite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3; specific gravity 3.471; Greenish streak; Vitreous luster; optically uniaxial.

IMA symbol Pagr, IMA status: approved, named in 2003.

Formed in the oxidized zone of hydrothermal Pb-Zn vein deposits, the product of alteration of primary Pb, Cu, REE, and As minerals.

It is found associated with Fluorite, limonite, chrysocolla, quartz.

As the lead (plumbo) analog of agardite.
