Plumbotellurite

Plumbotellurite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Pb(Te⁴⁺O₃).

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system.

Key properties: specific gravity 7.2; Yellowish gray streak; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Pbtlr, IMA status: approved, named in 1980.

A secondary mineral, produced through alteration of altaite near the base of the oxidation zone of a tellurium-rich mineral deposit.

It is found associated with Altaite.
