Relianceite-(K)

Relianceite-(K) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the organic mineral class, with the chemical formula K₄Mg(V⁴⁺O)₂(C₂O₄)(PO₃OH)₄(H₂O)₁₀.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group Pc). It is a member of the Oxalate structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 2.5; specific gravity 2.111; Very pale blue streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA status: approved, named in 2021.

Found in a bat-guano-related, post-mining assemblage in a hot and humid area of the mine.

It is found associated with Antipinite, dendoraite-(NH4), fluorite, mimetite, mottramite, rowleyite, salammoniac, struvite, vanadinite, willemite, wulfenite.

The name refers to the alternate name of the Rowley mine, the Reliance mine after 1927. The suffix indicates that K+ > NH4+.
