Sartorite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfosalt class, with the chemical formula PbAs₂S₄.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1/c). It is a member of the Sartorite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3; specific gravity 5.1; Chocolate-brown streak; Metallic luster.

IMA symbol Sat, grandfathered status — known before the IMA’s founding, named in 1868.

Found in a hydrothermal deposit in dolostone (Binntal, Switzerland).

It is found associated with Tennantite, pyrite, dufrénoysite, rathite, realgar (Binntal, Switzerland).

The mineral was named to honor Professor Wolfgang Sartorius von Waltershausen (1809–1876), University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, who first announced the species.
