Selivanovaite

Selivanovaite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula NaFe³⁺Ti₄(Si₂O₇)₂O₄(H₂O)₄.

It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system (space group P-1). It is a member of the Seidozerite-Murmanite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3; specific gravity 3.15; Brownish-white streak; Vitreous to greasy luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Svn, IMA status: approved, named in 2016.

An accessory mineral in medium-grained trachytoid eudialyte malignite (modal Kfs40Nph30Aeg20Eud10) collected from drill core in a Ta-Nb-REE-Zr deposit in an alkaline massif.

It is found associated with Murmanite, loparite-(Ce), pyrochlore, thorite, anatase, baryte, rhabdophane-(Ce), pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, chlorbartonite, djerfisherite, sphalerite.

The mineral was named to honor Ekaterina A. Selivanova (b. 1967), of the Kola Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, for her contribution to the mineralogy of alkaline complexes.
