Sergevanite

Sergevanite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Na₁₅(Ca₃Mn₃)(Na₂Fe)Zr₃Si₂₆O₇₂(OH)₃·H₂O.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group R3). It is a member of the Eudialyte structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5; specific gravity 2.9; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically uniaxial.

IMA symbol Sgv, IMA status: approved, named in 2019.

An accessory component in highly agpaitic foyaite of an alkaline massif.

It is found associated with Microcline, albite, nepheline, arfvedsonite, aegirine, lamprophyllite, fluorapatite, steenstrupine-(Ce), ilmenite, sphalerite.

The name refers to the Sergevan’ River, which is near the discovery locality.
