Wakefieldite-(Nd) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the vanadate class, with the chemical formula NdVO₄.
It crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system (space group I4_1/amd). It is a member of the Zircon structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 4.782; specific gravity 4.782.
IMA symbol Wf-Nd, IMA status: approved, named in 2008.
From metamorphism-induced recrystallization and dehydration of Fe- and Mn- oxyhydroxide in a stratiform ferromanganese deposit. Hydrothermal in rhyolitic ash flow tuff.
It is found associated with Hematite, caryopilite, rhodochrosite, calcite (Japan); rhodochrosite, calcite, cerite-(Ce), a Mn silicate (caryopilite?), monazite, magnetite, ilmenite.
Indicates the Nd-dominant analogue of wakefieldite-(Y) and wakefieldite-(Ce).
