Yttrocrasite-(Y)

Yttrocrasite-(Y) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula (Y,Th,Ca,U)(Ti,Fe)₂(O,OH)₆.

It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (space group Pbcn). It is a member of the Columbite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5.5–6; specific gravity 4.8; Bright pitchy to resinous luster.

IMA symbol Ycr-Y, IMA status: questionable, named in 1906.

Found in granite pegmatite.

The name comes from a dominance of YTTRium in the composition, and the Greek for a mixing, as there are many other elements in addition to yttrium.
