Zincgartrellite

Zincgartrellite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the arsenate class, with the chemical formula PbZn₂(AsO₄)₂(H₂O,OH)₂.

It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system (space group P-1). It is a member of the Helmutwinklerite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 4.5; specific gravity 5.3; Yellow streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Zgtl, IMA status: approved, named in 1998.

Found in the oxidized portion of a polymetallic deposit.

It is found associated with Wulfenite, duftite, β-duftite, conichalcite, cuproadamite, olivenite, chalcocite.

The name refers to the essential zinc content and relationship to the isostructural mineral gartrellite.
