Zincoberaunite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the phosphate class, with the chemical formula ZnFe³⁺₅(PO₄)₄(OH)₅·6H₂O.
It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/c). It is a member of the Beraunite structural group.
Key properties: specific gravity 2.92; Silky luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Zbru, IMA status: approved, named in 2015.
Found in a zoned phosphatic granitic pegmatite.
It is found associated with Potassium feldspar, quartz, jungite, phosphophyllite, mitridatite; or flurlite, plimerite, Zn-bearing beraunite, schoonerite, parascholzite/scholzite.
As the analogue of beraunite with zinc dominant among essential bivalent cations.
