Zincrosasite

Zincrosasite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the carbonate class, with the chemical formula (Zn,Cu)₂(CO₃)(OH)₂.

It is a member of the Malachite structural group.

Key properties: Pale blue streak; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Zrss, IMA status: questionable, named in 1959.

Found in an oxidized zone of a dolostone-hosted hydrothermal polymetallic ore deposit (Tsumeb, Namibia).

It is found associated with Azurite, cerussite, hemimorphite (Tsumeb, Namibia); cerussite, aurichalcite, malachite (Rudabanya, Hungary).

The name refers to its predominance of zinc content over copper content, and its relation to rosasite.
