Arsenocrandallite

Arsenocrandallite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the arsenate class, with the chemical formula CaAl₃(AsO₄)(AsO₃OH)(OH)₆.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group R-3m). It is a member of the Alunite-crandallite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5.5; specific gravity 3.25; White streak; Vitreous luster; optically isotropic.

IMA symbol Acdl, IMA status: approved, named in 1980.

A secondary mineral on specimens from a mine dump (Neubulach, Germany).

It is found associated with Brochantite, chalcophyllite, parnauite, barian pharmacosiderite, bulachite, arseniosiderite, mansfieldite, tetrahedrite–tennantite, azurite, malachite, barite.

The name refers to arsenic in the composition, and relation to crandallite.
