Arsenoflorencite-(Ce)

Arsenoflorencite-(Ce) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the arsenate class, with the chemical formula CeAl₃(AsO₄)₂(OH)₆.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group R3m). It is a member of the Alunite-crandallite structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 4.096; optically uniaxial.

IMA symbol Aflo-Ce, IMA status: approved, named in 1985.

Occurs as detrital grains in heavy mineral concentrates.

It is found associated with Alunite, florencite-(Ce), quartz.

As the arsenic analog of florencite and for the dominant rare earth element, cerium.
