Clino-suenoite

Clino-suenoite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula Mn²⁺₂Mg₅Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group C2/m). It is a member of the Amphibole structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 3.175; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Csue, IMA status: approved, named in 2017.

Found in Mn-rich quartzite glacial erratics derived from metamorphosed marine radiolaritic sediments.

It is found associated with Braunite, rhodonite, spessartine, tiragalloite, pyrophanite.

The rootname suenoite indicates an amphibole with composition expressed as A B □ Mn2+2CMg5TSi8O22W(OH)2 and the prefix clino indicates a monoclinic structure.
