Fluorbritholite-(Ce)

Fluorbritholite-(Ce) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula (Ce,Ca)₅(SiO₄)₃F.

It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P6_3). It is a member of the Apatite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 5; specific gravity 4.66; Colorless to pale brown streak; Adamantine luster; optically uniaxial.

IMA symbol Fbri-Ce, IMA status: approved, named in 1991.

Found in vugs in nepheline syenite, marble xenoliths, sodalite syenite xenoliths, and pegmatite dikes (Mont Saint-Hilaire).

It is found associated with Analcime, microcline, aegirine, zircon, biotite, pyrophanite, astrophyllite, ancylite, natrolite, monazite (in vugs); fluorite, pectolite, calcite, aegirine.

As the fluorine-dominant analogue of britholite-(Ce).
