Hitachiite
Hitachiite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the sulfosalt class, with the chemical formula Pb₅Bi₂Te₂S₆.
It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P-3m1). It is a member of the Tetradymite structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 2.5–3; specific gravity 7.54; Black streak; Metallic luster.
IMA symbol Hit, IMA status: approved, named in 2018.
From a volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit (Cu-Zn with small amounts of Pb). The sulfide deposit was metamorphosed to lower epidote-amphibole facies.
