Radekškodaite-(Ce)
Radekškodaite-(Ce) is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the silicate class, with the chemical formula (CaCe₅)(Al₄Fe²⁺)[Si₂O₇][SiO₄]₅O(OH)₃.
It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P2_1/m). It is a member of the Radekškodaite structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 6.5; specific gravity 4.651; Brown streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.
IMA symbol Ršk-Ce, IMA status: approved, named in 2019.
Found in polymineralic REE-bearing nodules composed mainly of allanite-ferriallanite, bastnäsite, fluorbritholite-(Ce), törnebohmite.
It is found associated with Albite, alexkuznetsovite-(Ce), alexkuznetsovite-(La), biraite-(Ce), cerianite-(Ce), REE-bearing epidote, ferriperbøeite-(Ce), heulandite-Ca, hollandite.
The suffix identifies the Ce analogue of radekškodaite-(La). The root name honors Czech mineralogist Radek Škoda (b. 1979), Associate Professor, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
