Rinmanite
Rinmanite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the oxides & hydroxide class, with the chemical formula Mg₂Fe₄Zn₂Sb₂O₁₄(OH)₂.
It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system (space group P6_3mc). It is a member of the Nolanite structural group.
Key properties: Mohs hardness 6; specific gravity 5.13; Brown streak; Submetallic luster; optically uniaxial.
IMA symbol Rnm, IMA status: approved, named in 2000.
Found in veinlets and lenses in dolomitic marble and silicate skarn hosting a pyritiferous Zn-Pb-Fe-Cu-Sb-Ag-deposit.
It is found associated with Tremolite, manganocummingtonite, talc, franklinite, baryte, svabite.
The mineral was named to honor Sven Rinman (1720-1792), a mining scientist considered by some to be the father of the Swedish minerals industry.
