Sailaufite

Sailaufite is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the arsenate class, with the chemical formula (Ca,Na,   )₂Mn³⁺₃O₂(AsO₄)₂(CO₃)·3H₂O.

It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group Cm). It is a member of the Arseniosiderite structural group.

Key properties: Mohs hardness 3.5; specific gravity 3.356; Brown streak; Vitreous luster; optically biaxial.

IMA symbol Slf, IMA status: approved, named in 2000.

A late-stage hydrothermal product in veins of Mn ore in rhyolite.

It is found associated with Hausmannite, arseniosiderite, kutnohorite, dolomite, quartz, calcite, Mn-calcite (Germany); manganlotharmeyerite, tilasite, calcite, braunite (Switzerland).
