Vanadium is an IMA-recognized mineral species in the native element class, with the chemical formula V.

It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system (space group Im3m). It is a member of the Iron structural group.

Key properties: specific gravity 6.033; Metallic luster.

IMA symbol V, IMA status: approved, named in 2012.

Found in sublimates from high-temperature (550-680° C) volcanic gases at active fumaroles.

It is found associated with Colimaite, shcherbinaite.

The chemical element named for Vanadis, a Scandinavian goddess.
